Impressions is a well-respected, annual exhibition of artistic talent, reflecting the world’s architectural, natural and cultural themes.

The fifty-two artists chosen to participate in the exhibition hail from all over the world and work in a wide variety of media and styles. One of the inspirations for Impressions artists was Bonnet House and its surrounding lush landscape.  Many of the artists were able to work on the grounds of Bonnet House, and visitors to Bonnet House had the opportunity to see these artists at work.

Daina Stabulniece, chair of painting and drawing for the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale, will be this year’s juror. This is Ms. Stabulniece’s first stint as juror for the exhibit. Kathleen Lowe, Vice President of Marketing and Development for Best Roofing and Scott LaMont Principal of EDSA are co-chairing this year’s Impressions opening.

Impressions: A Juried Art Exhibit is set to open with a private showing for V.I.P. guests starting at 5:00pm.  V.I.P. guests will be treated to champagne and hors d’oeuvres, preview the exhibition, and partake in a rare viewing of the exclusive private living quarters of Evelyn and Frederic Bartlett, Bonnet House’s former owners.  The reception opens to members of the public at 6:00 p.m.

Admission for the opening of Impressions is $200 for VIPs at 5:00 p.m. and $150 for general admission at 6:00 p.m.  Attendance is by reservation only by visiting us online at http://www.bonnethouse.org/impressions/ or by calling (954) 703-2614. A Timeless Choice: Weddings & Fashion Shoots at Bonnet House Museum & Gardens

11 Sep

That perfect location for an unforgettable wedding. The ideal backdrop for a cutting-edge fashion shoot.  Riverwalk A&E District partner Bonnet House Museum & Gardens embodies an exquisite combination of natural beauty, stunning architecture and history that makes it an outstanding choice for nearly 50 weddings and 20 bridal and fashion shoots a year.

Spanning 35 acres, Bonnet House is a paradisiacal hideaway situated between the Atlantic Ocean and Intracoastal, just south of Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. For weddings, it provides a tranquil, romantic setting for both ceremonies and receptions. Picture relaxed ponds with bonnet water lilies, lush tropical gardens, beautiful fountains, sparkling lakes, a quaint lakefront veranda, a historic 1920 plantation-style waterfront home, elegant swans … Bonnet House offers a variety of graceful settings for events of any size.

Because Bonnet House is such a unique venue, each and every wedding there is different. One example is the wedding at the charming lakeside dry fountain for the ceremony, followed by cocktails in the picturesque courtyard garden, and later, dinner and dancing on the scenic lakefront veranda.  An optional tent on the veranda may include draping and lighting, transforming the space according to the wedding’s décor and color scheme.

Wedding parties need not worry about the details. Bonnet House offers full service catering through CA Catering as an all-inclusive package, as well as set-up and space planning services. Also available are vendor and ceremony coordination, and numerous rental options.

Even if the wedding party is not in the local area, Bonnet House works closely with them to accommodate their requests to create an extraordinary event. Remember, Fort Lauderdale is an excellent destination wedding location, and Riverwalk A&E District offers exciting cultural opportunities to make everyone’s stay an extraordinary one.

While all weddings at Bonnet House are exceptional, some wedding parties have opted for distinctive themes. Special surprises during events have included brides arranging solo performances or group dance performances, such as a very slow hula dance.

Bonnet House’s distinct beauty also makes it a hot spot for fashion photographers. With its stunning architecture, calming natural setting with lakes, swans and bonnet lilies; the bright yellow exterior paint on the Bonnet House itself and its charm and whimsy, cottages, boat house and nearby beach, Bonnet House has served as the fashion shoot location for publications and media outlets including Martha Stewart, Elle magazine, Firefly, Victoria’s Secret, PBS and CBS.

Bonnet House is a beautiful piece of paradise that helps create wonderful memories to be treasured for generations to come, and remarkable images that are seen across the world. Why not experience this hidden treasure for yourself?

Bonnet House is located at 900 North Birch Road, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33304. For more information, visit www.bonnethouse.org, or call (954) 563-5393.
